Windows
The Windows build is for x64 machines running Windows 10 or 11.
Install from the .exe
Download UsingOpen-Desktop-Windows.exe with your key and run it. The installer extracts the app and the bundled Python environment.
SmartScreen warning
The build is not code-signed yet, so Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. To continue:
- Click More info, then Run anyway.
- If SmartScreen blocks the file entirely, open the file’s Properties and tick “Unblock” before running it.
If “Run anyway” is missing, right-click the .exe → Properties → General and tick “Unblock”, then run it again. Smart App Control on Windows 11 can block the app without a bypass; the first-launch guide covers that case and links Microsoft’s own documentation.
The prompt goes away once the signed pipeline ships.
One-line install
iwr -useb https://usingopen.com/install.ps1 | iexRun it in PowerShell. If the execution policy blocks scripts, run the command in a new PowerShell window or use the .exe above.
Verify the download
